Principles of using sulfa drugs in pig farms
Time: 2016-07-23
Sulfonamides are widely used clinically in swine diseases due to their wide antibacterial spectrum, convenient use, stable properties and low price. However, improper use may cause allergic reactions, as well as adverse reactions such as hemoglobinuria and anemia. Therefore, pig farmers should abide by 6 principles when applying sulfa drugs: One, doubling the first dose of sulfa drugs can achieve the purpose of rapid bacteriostasis by doubling the dose of sulfa drugs for the first time, and then use the normal dose. After the symptoms disappear, give 2- The minimum dosage of 3 times is to maintain the efficacy of the medicine for a long time and prevent the recurrence of the disease. Two, pay attention to the compatibility of contraindicated sulfa drugs, especially compound synergistic sulfa preparations, which cannot be compatible with penicillin, sodium bicarbonate, calcium chloride, vitamin c, vitamin b1, compound sodium chloride solution, etc., and need to be used alone. Three, do not use a large amount of sulfa drugs for a long time. Although it has a good effect on bacteria such as Streptococcus suis, the bacteria are easily resistant to them. At this time, you should quickly switch to other antibacterial drugs. Fourth, to ensure sufficient drinking water can maintain high urine flow and prevent drug crystallization. Pigs who have taken sulfa drugs for more than one week may use sodium bicarbonate to alkalize their urine if necessary. 5. Sulfonamide supplementation of B vitamins can inhibit the synthesis of B vitamins in the intestines. Therefore, pigs who have used sulfa drugs for more than 1 week should be given B vitamins or fed more green feed. 6. Stop the drug on time. In order to ensure the quality and safety of animal products, the drug should be used in accordance with the national veterinary drug standards and professional standards. Sulfadiazine sodium injection should be stopped 10 days before pigs are released, and sulfadiazine should be stopped 15 days before pigs are released. For pyrimidine tablets, sulfamethazine sodium injection, sulfamethoxine, dimethoprim tablets, and dimethoprim premix were stopped 28 days before the market. (Reproduced)
